Prof. George Amoako is a Professor in Physics and Materials Science at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He received his BSc. (Physics) from University of Cape Coast and MSc. (Physics) Degree from the University of Stuttgart in Germany before eventually receiving his PhD (Materials Science and Engineering) from Jiangsu University, China in 2014.
He was the Head of Department for the Department of Physics between 2018 - 2023. Prof. Amoako worked on how to recycle discarded polyethylene containers and coconut fibers and shells. He has published papers on some findings in this research. He is currently working on several research: Assessment of Bush Animal Digesta, Advanced Concrete Formulations for Enhanced Shielding and Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination along the Volta River. He is currently a member of the Management Board of the National Nuclear Research Institute since 2025. He presented his inaugural lecture on the topic “DNA Origami: A template for patterning nanostructures” in 2023.
In addition to teaching and research, he has also reviewed manuscripts for some journals and is also an avid supporter for the Ghana National Men’s football team the Black Stars.
