About

Dr. Joseph Boachie is a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist and a Senior Lecturer with a specialised research focus on haematinics, particularly vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies. His work investigates their critical role in regulating normal body metabolism and their contribution to the development of metabolic disorders.

He holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Haematology from the University of Westminster. Following his doctorate, Dr. Boachie served as a Research Associate at Warwick Medical School, contributing significantly to a major cluster randomised controlled trial on workplace health incentives.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he applied his expertise in a vital industrial role as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (R&D) at Randox Laboratories, playing a key part in the UK's national molecular testing effort.

Dr. Boachie joined the University of Cape Coast as a Lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science in 2021. In addition to his teaching and research duties, he is actively involved in student development and governance, serving as a Hall Tutor and Patron of the Parliamentary Council at Casely Hayford Hall. He also coordinates the department's Sandwich Program and acts as Patron for the Medical Laboratory Science Students' Association (MELSSA).
