George Amfo-Antiri is a seasoned finance professional and higher education administrator, currently serving as the Acting Director of Finance at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), where he provides strategic and operational oversight of the University’s financial and accounting functions. With nearly two decades of progressive experience at UCC, he has risen from the rank of Accounting Assistant to Deputy Director of Finance, developing strong expertise in financial governance, budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting, internal controls, revenue mobilisation, digital transformation, and institutional sustainability.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Open University of Malaysia and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Coast. He is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA), United Kingdom; a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIT) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA), all of Ghana; and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK. He again has an executive and professional training in ESG reporting, higher education management, and human resource management.
He has championed digital transformation and improved controls through online transcript request payment platforms, online staff annual tax returns, online student fee refunds, direct bank payments, web-based application form purchases, USSD payment channels, and point-of-sale systems, which initiatives have reduced cash exposure, improved reconciliation, strengthened accountability, and enhanced service delivery. He has also contributed to policy development, staff capacity building, and University governance. He co-authored and coordinated the Directorate of Finance Staff Mentorship Policy and its operating manual, both of which were approved and institutionalised to support staff development.
Beyond his institutional role, George has published in peer-reviewed journals covering financial markets, currency economics, and the evolving accounting profession. He serves on numerous University Boards and Committees, including the Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Planning and Resource Committee, and Entity Tender Committee and is Chairman for the University’s Insurance Committee. His career reflects strong financial leadership, practical innovation, policy influence, staff mentorship, and sustained commitment to accountable stewardship and institutional sustainability.
