Prof. (Mrs.) Christina Offei-Ansah (nee Darko-Larbi) is a professor of Home Economics at the Unit of Family Ecology and Resource Management of the Department of Vocational and Technical Education of the University of Cape Coast.
Christina is a smart, intelligent and experienced lecturer, a quick-thinking person with extensive background in Family Studies. She is a skilled lecturer with a driving and courageous personality with the ability to venture into new-curricular areas. She is a kind, loving, forthright and strong person, a great mind of substance and courage, always ready to provide, protect and make uncompromising sacrifices regardless of any hurdles.
She is highly motivated and result-oriented consensus builder. Has proved ability to direct programmes and oversee projects from inception through implementation to completion. She has also effectively mentored diverse group of junior faculty, graduates and undergraduates in career development skills.
She had her primary education at Ejura Anglican Primary School, from where she proceeded to Achimota School where she completed here ‘O’ Level. From Achimota she went for her professional training as a teacher at Wesley College, Kumasi for Post-Secondary Education. She pursued other short courses as she continued to teach and was one of the teachers for the Experimental Junior Secondary schools. She further obtained a Diploma in Advance Studies of Education at University of Cape Coast in 1985 after which she taught Home Economics at Aburi Girls Secondary.
Christina completed her B.Ed (Home Economics Education) and Diploma in Biology in 1996. She served as a Senior Research Assistant in the Department while pursuing her M.Phil in Home Economics. With keen interest and a desire to make a career in academia, she joined the Faculty of Education as a Lecture in 2004. She then rose through the ranks, by dint of hard work and determination to earn a professorial status in 2013.
Besides Lecturing and assessing students at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels, she has served in other capacities with the university one of them being the Hall Warden, Adehye Hall which she started as a Hall Tutor and from 2012 to 2014 was the Head. As the Alumni Treasure (2001-2015) she helped the leadership to chalk a lot of successes. She was very instrumental to the designing and production of the 40th and 50th University Anniversary Cloths. She has also taught successfully, supervised several undergraduate and graduates’ projects dissertations and theses. She has authored a number of publications in local and international journals based on her areas of interests.
