Dr. Augustina Araba Amissah holds a PhD in Development Studies, MPhil, BEd (Hons) in Home Economics and Diploma in Biology (UCC). She has worked with the University of Cape Coast first, as a Principal Research Assistant, a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of Cape Coast SINCE 2004. She has taught several courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The courses she has taught for the past eleven years include Environmental and Housing Management, Environment and Development, Health and Sanitation, Family Issues and Resource Management, Family Life Education, Personal Finance, Housing and Home Improvement, Research Methods in Home Economics and Consumer Education.
Her research interests are in the areas of Family Studies, Household Energy Conservation and Environmental Management. She has twelve publications to her credit. She has supervised several MPhil theses by graduate students and many undergraduate projects.
Dr. Amissah was a visiting Doctoral Fellow at Wilfrid Laurier University Waterloo, Canada from September - December 2012. She has presented papers at national and international conferences. She has rendered outreach services in terms of commissioned research to a number of governmental and private organisations.
Dr. Amissah has been the Secretary to the Board of Enyan Denkyira Rural Bank Limited since 2003. She has been a member of professional bodies such as: University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) August, 2006 – date; Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA) 1987 – date; Home Economics Research Association of Ghana (HERAG) 2006 – date; and Board of Governors, Enyan Denkyira Senior High School, 2001 - 2015. She was an assembly member, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly (AEEDA, 2001- 2008) and a member of the Executive Committee AEEDA. 2001 – 2008.
