Prof. Victor Y A Barku is a progressive professor in Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cape Coast. His research interest is in Natural Products Chemistry (Phytochemistry) focusing on isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants purposively towards drug discovery. He holds a Ph.D. degree certificate in Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

He has so far characterized a cross-section of secondary metabolites namely alkaloids, terpenoids, and flavonoids considered to have contributed immensely to research knowledge-based literature and intrinsic evidenced-based healthcare delivery. He is committed and result oriented with a motivation and a reputation for ensuring success in every prescribed undertaking. He is able to adapt to challenging situations, balance multiple competing priorities, still achieving strict deadlines in decision making and project execution.
