Reinhard Isaac Nketia, PhD, MPhil, BSc, is a Pharmacognosist with research interests in medicinal plants, natural medicinal products and herbal medicine, particularly focusing on drug discovery, the evaluation of bioactive compounds, quality assessment, optimisation and standardisation of herbal medicinal products.
His research focuses on the scientific investigation of medicinal plants and the discovery and evaluation of bioactive compounds with potential therapeutic applications, particularly for malaria and other diseases. His previous work has explored the antimalarial potential of Ghanaian medicinal plants through phytochemical investigations, bioassay-guided studies and preclinical pharmacological evaluation. His current research interests include natural product-based drug discovery, optimisation and standardisation of medicinal plant preparations, as well as the quality assessment and development of herbal medicinal products.
Dr. Nketia is a member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) and the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA). His goal is to generate scientific evidence that supports the safety, quality and efficacy of herbal medicines and their integration into modern healthcare.
