Prof. Samuel Kwaku Agyei is a Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance of the University of Cape Coast. He holds a PhD and MPhil in Finance from the University of Ghana. He did Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Cape Coast. He is a member, in good standing, of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), with close to two decades of post-qualification experience, and a Moderator for the Institute. He also holds a Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants –England and Wales (ICAEW).
Prof. Agyei has served the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in various capacities. Before being elected as the Vice-Dean of the School of Business, he was the Head of the Unit of Business Programmes at the College of Distance Education, UCC from 2018 to 2020, responsible for managing the running of all UCC business programmes across the country, Ghana. He teaches Accounting and Finance related courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at the University of Cape Coast School of Business.
Prof. Agyei has several publications including books, modules and dozens of articles in renowned refereed journals. He is a Guest Reviewer for some renowned journals such as Applied Economics Letters, Journal of African Business, African Development Review, Development Studies Research, Cogent Economics and Finance, Heliyon and International Journal of Law and Management. He is an Examiner for University of Kwazulu-Natal and University of Witwatersrand. He has also served as an Adjunct lecturer for the Adventist University of Philippines and Valley View University. His current research areas include financial literacy, behavioural finance, governance and social welfare.
Prof. Agyei has provided consultancy services for projects sponsored by GIZ, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the World Bank. He serves on some boards including the boards of Amansie Rural Bank Plc, Ghana Adventist Heritage Fund and the Executive Committee of the Northern Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He is married with a set of twin girls and a boy.
