Dr. Gifty Edna Anani is a lecturer at the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast, a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) specialist, and an educational consultant.  Dr Anani holds a PhD in English Education from the University of Cape Coast, an M.Phil. in Teaching English as a Second language (TESL) from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Education in English from the University of Education, Winneba, and a Teacher’s Certificate A (3-Year Post Secondary) from OLA College of Education. For over two decades, Dr Anani has nurtured and mentored several teachers of the English Language through practical teaching approaches, although her preferred approach is communicative language teaching and learning. Dr Anani’s rich experience and knowledge in grooming language teachers stems from her work at all levels of education in Ghana, her participation in and facilitation of conferences and workshops and her research and advocacy in language teacher education. She has been a consultant for public and private institutions and on several research committees inside and outside her workplace. In her spare time, Dr Anani enjoys writing and reading. Her areas of expertise and research interests are language teacher preparation, technology in language education, and teaching English as a second language.  Currently, she is investigating challenges confronting language teacher education, focusing on what prevents colleges of education from offering trainees an excellent teaching and learning experience. She is convinced that if our educational system is to have the desired effect, teacher education must be taken more seriously.
