Esinam Ami Avornyo is a research fellow at the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She holds a PhD degree in Education from the University of Cambridge, UK. Her research interest is concerned with children and how to improve the quality of education systems to support their development and learning. After her PhD, she worked remotely as a research fellow with the University of Pennsylvania on a Spencer Foundation funded project that examined the cultural dimensions of early childhood education standard-based measures of quality. Since then, she has provided support on a number of early childhood impact evaluation programmes in Ghana (e.g. Quality Preschool for Ghana and Parental Nudges Project) funded by the World Bank, UK Research and Innovation and British Academy. Esinam has also worked as a Co-Principal Investigator on a LEGO Foundation funded project focused on understanding barriers to Ghanaian caregivers’ engagement in children’s education and learning as well as the Principal Investigator on the Luminos Fund project aimed at exploring factors impeding learning of out-of-school and drop-out children enrolled in an accelerated learning programme in Ghana. She served as an evaluation statistician on the Right to Play Partners in Play Project (P3) in Ghana in 2021 - 2023.
