Godwin Asante Forkuo, Chattered Administrator and Ghanaian media practitioner with over 25years of working experience as a journalist. He has Served on several committees in the University and Ghana and a member of several professional bodies/ Associations in Ghana.
Currently, he is the head of the Institutional Advancement Office at the University of Cape Coast with obligation of developing and designing advancement strategies, coordinating all advancement activities in the University, design strategies to market and brand the University, coordinating Alumni activities, constituents, and friends, providing information to the campus community about fundraising initiatives, and developing programmers and initiatives to strengthen alumni connections and encourage lifelong support of their alma mater. His research interest is on Fundraising, Communication, Educational Administration and Alumni Engagement Practices.
He chaired the committee that established the UCC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund and served on various committees as a postgraduate student.
With over two decades of diverse professional experience, Forkuo has made significant strides in radio broadcasting, football management, marketing communication, educational administration, and public relations. He is near completing two Doctor of Philosophy degrees (PhD) in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Teaching, respectively, at UCC. He holds two master’s degrees in Communication Studies, and Educational Administration and also a Bachelor of Education degree from UCC. He has participated in numerous workshops and conferences throughout his career.
Driven by his passion for sports, Forkuo began his notable career in sports journalism in 1999 at Dormaa FM, where he was instrumental in introducing mainstream sports coverage. In 2003, he joined ATL FM at UCC, where he currently works part-time, rising from head of sports to acting Station Manager. In 2013, he co-hosted the BBC Africa Sports show live on BBC Focus on Africa and served as a correspondent for Voice of America (VOA) Network’s Africa Programme.
As a FIFA and CAF accredited journalist, Forkuo has reported on two World Cups, five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, the World University Games in Italy (2019), over three hundred Ghana Premier League matches, and more than ten Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) events.
His work has earned him several accolades and awards, including the Best Central Region Sports Journalist of the Year award in 2008.
He served as the PRO for GUSA from 2020 to 2024 and was President of the Association of Sports Broadcasters of Ghana (Central Region) from 2008 to 2023. Recently, he was elected President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (Central Region).
Forkuo is deeply committed to serving Ghana and Africa. He has served on various Local Organizing Committees (LOC), including the CAF Africa Women Cup of Nations in 2019, West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations in 2017, Africa Games in 2024, GUSA 2024 Games, and as Venue Media Officer for all Ghana national teams under the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
