Prof. Francis Kumi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering, School of Sustainable Engineering, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He specializes in Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering. He has worked on projects funded by many local and international organisations including the United Nations Office for Project Services, the European Union, USAID, UK Icure discover, RUFORUM, Anglogold Ashanti, World Food Programme, National Natural Science Foundation of China and the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAP). He is passionate about developing technologies and offering engineering solutions to tackle local problems in agriculture while partnering with institutions and experts in different countries to address global issues. Prof. Kumi is an innovator and has collaborated with colleagues and students to develop several innovations including a smart chicken de-feathering machine, high-speed vegetable seedling transplanter, solar-supported biogas digester, planters, dryers, a maize thresher and a crop residue shredding machine. He is also very much involved in agricultural circular economy as well as precision agriculture research. He has so far supervised/co-supervised seven(7) master and two(2) PhD students to successful completion. He is married with four children.
