Dr. Ernest Obese is a registered pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and holds a PhD in Pharmacology and an MPhil in Pharmaceutics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Cape Coast. Dr. Obese is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast. His research interests involve identifying new therapeutic agents from natural products for the management of pain and inflammation and some neurological disorders and the mechanisms by which these agents cause their effect. Other research interests include medicinal plant/natural product formulation and natural polymer-based drug delivery system development and evaluation. Also, Dr. Obese is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA), Convention for Biomedical Research Ghana (CoBReG), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research.
