Professor Christopher Yaw Kwaah is an educationist, researcher, curriculum specialist, and teacher educator with a strong interest in child development research and improving learning outcomes. His work spans teacher education, curriculum reform, educational policy, professional development, and the intersection of school and home environments in supporting children’s development and learning.
He is an Associate Professor of Curriculum and Teaching at the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast (UCC), where he serves as Coordinator of the Educational Research Unit. He served as Vice Dean of the School of Educational Development and Outreach from 2022 to 2026. He is also a Visiting Scholar at The Open University, UK, and Karlsruhe University of Education, Germany.
With over two decades of experience, Professor Kwaah has contributed significantly to Ghana’s teacher education reforms, including the development and implementation of the Bachelor of Education curriculum for Colleges of Education and the review of Ghana’s Senior High School curriculum. He has secured and managed nationally and internationally funded research projects supported by the Jacobs Foundation, Education International, DAAD, the World Bank and UK FCDO. He currently leads the Ghana component of the Jacobs Foundation-supported LEARN programme, implemented with New York University to strengthen the capacity of early- and mid-career researchers in child development and longitudinal research in Ghana and Colombia. He also leads the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation component of The Open University-led Classroom Realities Project in Zambia and Kenya. Additionally, he has contributed to and facilitated stakeholder engagement activities for The Open University-funded Young Mothers Project in Ghana.
