About

Dr. Ocansey is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), being the second Ghanaian to achieve fellowship of the prestigious academy. He holds a PhD degree (Optometry and Vision Science) from the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Population and Health, from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is a Doctor of Optometry (OD), qualified to practice in Ghana and Zimbabwe with several years of clinical practice and teaching experience. 

Dr Ocansey has over 12 years higher level teaching experience, having thought in Ghana (University of Cape Coast and School of Dispensing Optics, Oyoko), and Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Dr Ocansey is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Coast and a Visiting Professor at the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) in Zimbabwe. Dr, Ocansey has a broad academic training and international exposure. He has participated in interdisciplinary research in his home country, Ghana and elsewhere notably UK, and presented papers at optometric meetings or conferences in Ghana, South Africa, UK and USA and has served as an external examiner for some universities both in and outside Ghana. He is a founding member of the Center for Eye Care and Public Health Intervention Initiative (CEPHII) and the African Chapter, American Academy of Optometry.  He has published over 40 scientific articles in peer review journals.
