Sampson is a Linguist with the Department of Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He received his doctoral degree from the IGRA Graduate School at Universität Leipzig, Germany. His research broadly focuses on theoretical issues in the syntax and morphology of Kwa languages of West Africa, especially Gã and Akan (both spoken in southern Ghana). He has worked on a range of topics, including pronouns, clausal determiners, marking definiteness, negative polarity, and inherent complement verbs, among others. He is, presently, the Local Investigator for Akan in the European Research Council-funded LeibnizDream Project.
