Fr Raymond Chegedua Tangonyire, SJ (PhD Cantab) is a Catholic Priest and belongs to the Society of Jesus popularly known as the Jesuits. He is a Cambridge Commonwealth European International scholar and holds an MPhil and PhD degrees in Educational Leadership and School Improvement from the University of Cambridge, England. Fr Ray also holds a BA in Theology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya; a BPhil in Philosophy from the Gregorian University, Rome, Italy; a BSc Agriculture from the University of Cape Coast, and a Diploma in Tourism and Travel Agency Management from Cambridge Tutorial College, England.
Fr. Ray currently lectures postgraduate students in a variety of areas, including Educational Leadership and Educational Research Methods at the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. Prior to his current role, Fr. Ray began his post-university profession as a banker but later turned to education where he worked in various capacities as a leader, teacher and consultant in pre-tertiary and tertiary educational institutions across Africa. He was the director of Admissions at St Francis Catholic Secondary School in Lagos, Nigeria. He taught integrated science, biology and agriculture in pre-tertiary institutions in Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Fr Ray has proclivity for researching critical friendship as tool for school improvement, the natural interconnectedness between leadership and learning, visual leadership and how visual art creation and criticism promote holistic foundational learning and development of authentic leadership among learners
