Prof. Peter Obeng is a Public Health Engineer and an Associate Professor in the Department of Water and Sanitation in the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is the founding Head of his department. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering.
Prof. Obeng teaches courses in water supply and environmental sanitation technologies for resource-constrained settings. His research interest focuses on the technical and non-technical barriers to the uptake and regular usage of sanitation technologies in developing countries, with special emphasis on non-sewered sanitation systems. He has served as a consultant to various local and international organisations and served on several boards and committees within his university and the water sector of his country.
He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, the Ghana Science Association and the DANIDA Fellowship Alumni.
