Qualifications and Current Position
Nana Yaw Oppong is an Associate Professor of the Department of Human Resource Management, School of Business, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and currently head of the department. He holds a Ph.D. in Talent/Skills Development from the Leeds Beckett University, Leeds, UK; MBA in International Business (HRM) from the University of East London, UK; Bachelor of Secretaryship (with French) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; and Diploma in Education also from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Nana is an Erasmus+ Scholar and a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana; member of the African Academy of Management; and the HRM and Management in Organisations in Africa Group, United Kingdom.
Teaching and Supervision
Before joining University of Cape Coast, Nana taught at the Leeds Business School, UK; Leeds City College, UK and also held managerial and administrative positions in national and multinational organizations including Ghana Timber Millers Organization, Ghana; Ghana Manganese Company Limited, Ghana; Public Fundraising Regulatory Association, London, UK; and Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, Ghana. He is a visiting professor to the Bonn-Rhein Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Germany; the Bem School of Management, Dakar, Senegal; and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Accra, Ghana. He has also held boards and advisory roles including a member of the Board of Directors of the Nyankumasi Ahenkro Rural Bank and chair of the Human Resource Committee, and later the chair of the Board. He was also an international advisory board member of the Tema Port Efficiency and Public Private Capacity Building project. Prof. Oppong has also served on varied committees and Boards of the University of Cape Coast.
Prof. Oppong has taught as varied levels in higher educational institutions including PhD, MPhil, MBA, Bachelor, and Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development and General Management modules, and currently supervising/supervised PhD topics including the following:

He is also supervision several MPhil and MBA students with varied topics in Talent/Skills Development; Management and Leadership Development; Green Human Resource Management; Labour Relations; and Indigenous Research.
Publications, Peer Review, and Conferences
His research interests include talent and skills development; management and leadership development; and cross cultural HRM (focus on multinational subsidiaries in Africa) and has published 39 refereed journal articles, two book chapters; two books; three modules covering mostly his areas of research.
His peer review articles have been published in renowned journals such as the Management Research; International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management; International Journal of Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management; International Journal of Training and Development; The Qualitative Report; Cogent Business & Management, SA Journal of Human Resource Management, Africa Review, Higher Education Skills and Work-Based Learning, Journal of Work-Applied Management, Social Sciences and Humanities Open, and the International Journal of Educational Development. Nana is also an ad-hoc reviewer for a number of journals including the International Journal of Cross Cultural Management; International Journal of Management and Law; Cogent Business and Management; Journal of Business and Enterprise Development; Academy of Management Review; the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Social Sciences and Humanities Open and currently an editorial board member of the Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship Development.
Some of his research outcomes have been shared and discussed with the academic and industry players at international conferences and workshops in Ghana, the United Kingdom, Greece, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, and the United States of America. Nana has also had educational tours to Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany. In Germany, he made presentations on Ghanaian human resource practices in two universities. So far, he has attended 38 international conferences, workshops and seminars, and many training programmes.
Curricula Development, Review and Accreditation
With regard to curriculum development and review, he has been involved in the development of programme documents in PhD (Business Administration), MPhil/MCom (Human Resource Management); and BCom (Human Resource Management) for the School of Business, University of Cape Coast. He has also helped in the review and (re)accreditation of these programme documents. Nana is a consultant in Human Resource Management/Development and Labour Relations. He has involved in the negotiation of employee conditions of service for varied organisation and has run training programmes for renowned business organisations.
