Dr. Millicent Abigail Aning-Agyei is a seasoned social scientist, and a development expert. She holds Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana.
Professionally, Millicent is a Research Fellow at the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) of UCC. Prior to her appointment, she was a successful senior level administrative officer at UCC, and managed senior Management Officers such as Pro-Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors. She also serves as a Protocol Reviewer on the Institutional Review Board of UCC, and the Grants Officer of the University. Having extensive experience in research administration in higher education settings, Millicent routinely provides training on grant proposal preparation (comprising grant requirements by funders and reviewers) and submission for postgraduate biomedical and medical students of UCC. She assists faculty with the technical aspects of research grants and contracts, and proposal development for funding; as well as coordinates pre-award, award and post-award administrative services for research/consultancy projects of faculty in UCC. Her primary grants experiences are in proposal budget development, coordination of large-scale grant applications, grant submissions, and eRA system.
Millicent has more than 15 years of experience in research projects and consultancy services in different roles, including research administrator, project coordinator, lead consultant, co-consultant/co-investigator, and principal investigator to funding agencies such as World Bank, EU, USAID, UNDP, ILO, Plan International Ghana and Atlantic Lithium Limited. She has collaborated actively with other researchers in several other disciplines to implement dozens of research projects and consultancy services. She is also well versed in research and conversant with both qualitative and quantitative approaches and tools. Her core research domains include sanitation and waste management, public-private partnership, environmental management, natural resource management, sustainable development, community development, rural planning and development, environment and development, and monitoring and evaluation.
As a member of the Development Studies Association (United Kingdom), and Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum (GMEF) as well as a corporate member of the Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP), Millicent has broad knowledge and practical experience in development planning and policy in addition to project or programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
