Dr. Kwabena Dankwa
Dr. Kwabena Dankwa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology and the Coordinator for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Cape Coast (UCCSMS). He holds a BSc in Zoology and Botany from the University of Cape Coast and an MSc and PhD in Clinical Microbiology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Dr. Dankwa has expertise in teaching Bacteriology and Parasitology, utilizing traditional and problem-based learning methods to improve students' understanding of infectious diseases. As a researcher, he specializes in parasitology and infectious diseases, concentrating on the epidemiology of intestinal parasites such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and other intestinal helminths.
As the PBL Coordinator, Dr Dankwa has played a vital role in promoting student-centred learning at UCCSMS. He has received training in PBL facilitation, scenario development, faculty training, and curriculum design from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Under his leadership, he has organized numerous faculty development workshops and student training programs, ensuring the effective integration of PBL methodologies into medical education.
Dr. Dankwa is dedicated to mentorship and faculty development, fostering a collaborative academic environment. His leadership has helped UCCSMS enhance its Problem-Based Learning (PBL) framework, equipping students with critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills essential for modern medical practice.
