Professor Julius K. Hagan is an Associate Professor in Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Department of Animal Science, School of Agriculture, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast, Ghana. He had his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture in 2003 from the University of Cape Coast and proceeded with a PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in 2010. He has also had a Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Quantitative Genetics and Genomics from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi, Kenya. His area of research interest is indigenous livestock genetic resource conservation and improvement. He is currently working on the development of new rabbit breeds for Ghanaian farmers. He also holds a Certificate in Leadership in Agricultural Development. He has been involved in local livestock breed improvement research for the past five years with special interest in poultry, goats and recently rabbits. He is also a member of the Ghana National Cattle Ranching Committee. He has been consulting for local and international organisations in the area of training and upgrading of capacities of livestock and poultry farmers.
