Dr. Japhet Kwasi Osiakwan is a mathematics educator in the Department of Mathematics and ICT Education. Japhet has a lot of teaching experience at all levels of education. He has taught at the basic school level for 5 years, secondary level for 12 years, and tertiary level for over 7 years. After teaching mathematics for 8 years at St. Augustine's College, Japhet moved to OLA College of Education where he taught several mathematics courses for 3 years and then finally joined the University of Cape Coast as a mathematics lecturer. Japhet is currently the coordinator of the School Adoption Project initiated by the College of Education Studies, UCC. His research interests are Teacher Professional Learning, Teachers' Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics, Teaching and Assessment in Mathematics Education, and Students' Learning of Mathematics. Japhet has several publications including modules and textbooks.
Children are not little adults, and they must not be treated as such. Every child of school going age can learn mathematics with understanding, provided whatever you want the child to learn is presented in an intellectually honest manner.
