Rev. Isaac Baafi Sarbeng was born on 23rd April, 1964 in Hwidiem in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region. He holds B.A (Hons) degree in Geography and Resource Development with Linguistics from the University of Ghana, Legon in 1991; Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PDGE) from the University of Cape Coast in 1999, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Development Policy and Planning; specialization in Social Sector Policy and Planning and Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Management) all from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1999 and 2013 respectively; Professional Diploma (Human Resource Management) from Galilee International Institute, Israel in 2018; Certificate in Organisational Development and Change Management from AMADI, South Africa in 2014; Certificate of Charter from the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultant (CIAMC), Ghana in 2019 and a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) since 2016.
He joined the University of Cape Coast in December, 1999 as a Junior Assistant Registrar and has risen through the ranks to Deputy Registrar and currently the Director of Directorate of Human Resource. He has worked at several offices/sections in the university which include the Examination Section, Personnel Section, the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Faculty of Social Sciences, College of Distance Education (formerly Centre for Continuing Education), the then Faculty of Science, Admissions Section of the Directorate of Academic Affairs and the Training and Development Section. He has also been Secretary to a number of important committees in and outside University of Cape Coast which include Search Committee for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of UCC (2 times), Vetting Committee for the appointment of Pro Vice-Chancellor, Secondary/Technical/Vocational Sub-committee of the President’s Education Reform Committee; Technical Committee on Financial Decentralisation and the Appointments and Promotions Board. He has written several memos/papers which have influenced policies and decision-making in the University among which are the Training and Development Policy; Transfer Policy in August, Health and Safety Policy and Retirement Policy. Rev. Baafi Sarbeng has also mentored a number of Junior Assistant Registrars; An External Assessor for promotion of Senior Members (Non-Teaching staff) of other private and public Universities in Ghana.
He is an Ordained Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana and married with two young adults. He is God fearing with high moral integrity, result oriented, good human relation, fair and firm.
