University of Cape Coast

Mrs. Irene Kafui Vorsah Amponsah (Ph.D.) is a Lecturer, Data Analyst, and the former Department Registration and Examination Officer of the Statistics Department of the School of Physical Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, University of Cape Coast-Ghana. She is a proud alumna of the University of Cape Coast (University of Choice) where she had all her degrees.

Her passion for Statistics as a career option stems from the fact that it offers the opportunity to develop statistical and probabilistic expertise, involving practical, mathematical, and computing skills, while working on challenging and important problems with substantial real-world applications. It offers excellent career prospects, in academia as well as in other environments such as industry, government, and support of actuarial and health/medical work among others. This necessitated her decision to pursue Mathematics (Statistics major) right from the Secondary School (SHS) to the University level. Statistics is a necessary tool for development and helps make Mathematics more practical and fun.

She has mentored in the past and continues to mentor both male and female teaching assistants who are currently doing/completing their masters and/or Ph.D. in Ghana and overseas. She is also mentoring female and male continuing students in the School of Physical Sciences by guiding them through education and a positive lifestyle.

She is married with three children, loves spending quality time with family, taking initiative, singing, counseling, reading novels, and exercising to keep fit.

We are all stakeholders in our society; therefore with hard work, determination, a positive vision, and good health, nothing is impossible. We can achieve all things through Christ that strengthens us.
