About

George K.T. Oduro holds a PhD (CANTAB) degree from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is a Professor of Educational Leadership and the immediate past Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is currently the Dean of the University of Cape Coast’s School of Educational Development and Outreach.

>George has taught at all levels of Ghana’s educational system in both less-endowed and endowed contexts. He has a strong passion for leadership for learning>, quality issues in education and gender-sensitive pedagogy. He believes that teachers and students perform well when leadership creates an enabling environment for learning.

>Guided by these leadership values, George has positioned himself strongly in learning-focused leadership research and capacity strengthening activities. His research concerns mostly lie in leadership strategies for improving the quality of teaching and learning in schools. He has over the years presented papers, participated in panel discussions and delivered keynote speeches on various educational issues at national and international conferences in Africa, Asia and Europe.

George is experienced in coordinating education-related international partnership research and capacity strengthening projects. He is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, the All Saints’ Educational Trust, UK, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships (ALAF) Scheme and the Galilee International Management Institute.

George believes that teachers and students perform well when leadership creates an enabling environment for learning and that teachers must focus on promoting learning rather than teaching in the classroom. *You can not miss teaching when you focus on learning but you can miss learning when you focus on teaching.
