DR. FELIX SENYAMETOR: A DISTINGUISHED ACADEMIC IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
Dr. Felix Senyametor currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education and Psychology, part of the Faculty of Educational Foundations at the University of Cape Coast. With a robust academic background and extensive experience, Dr. Senyametor has significantly contributed to the field of educational psychology and teacher education in Ghana.
Dr. Senyametor holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, a testament to his deep understanding of the cognitive, emotional, and social factors that influence teaching and learning. Since joining the University of Cape Coast in 2016, he has taught a variety of courses, including Educational Psychology, Psychology of Learning and Instruction, School Psychology, Child Psychology, Psychology of Adolescence, Cognitive Science, and Psychology of Human Growth. His teaching is characterized by a commitment to fostering an engaging and stimulating learning environment, where students are encouraged to critically examine psychological principles and their application in educational settings. Before entering academia, Dr. Senyametor gained valuable hands-on experience in the classroom, having been a professional teacher since 2002. This practical insight into the challenges and dynamics of teaching has informed his approach to education and research, allowing him to bridge the gap between theory and practice effectively.
Dr. Senyametor's research interests are both diverse and impactful. He focuses on critical areas such as distance education, teacher motivation and turnover, instructional quality, and teacher effectiveness. His scholarly work aims to enhance educational practices and inform policy decisions, ultimately benefiting educators and students alike. To date, he has authored over 28 refereed publications, showcasing his dedication to advancing knowledge in his areas of expertise.
In addition to his teaching and research commitments, Dr. Senyametor has been actively involved in various professional service roles. He served on the District Teacher Support Team in the Asante Akim South District from 2010 to 2013, where he was responsible for in-service training for basic school teachers. This role exemplifies his commitment to professional development and support for educators. Furthermore, he was a Teaching Practice Mentor for Colleges of Education from 2009 to 2011, demonstrating his dedication to guiding and nurturing emerging educators.From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Senyametor held the position of Ashanti Regional Coordinator for the College of Distance Education at the University of Cape Coast (CoDE-UCC). In this capacity, he worked to enhance the quality of distance education, ensuring that it meets the needs of diverse learners and addresses the challenges inherent in remote learning environments.
Currently, as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education and Psychology at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Senyametor continues to inspire and shape the next generation of educators through his teaching, research, and community engagement. His contributions to the field of educational psychology are instrumental in advancing educational practices and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
