Dr. Dickson Wiredu Kofi Ocansey is a lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics from Jiangsu University, China, where he also served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. His doctoral research focused on stem cells, gut metagenomics, and metabolomics implications in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its associated colorectal cancer (CRC).
As a young early carrier scientist, Dr. Ocansey has an extensive research portfolio with his Research Interest Score higher than 99% of ResearchGate members who first published in 2019 and higher than 92% of ResearchGate members, reflecting his significant impact in the field. He has won several research awards, including the prestigious National Natural Science Fund of China Research Fund for International Scientists (Grant no. 82250410378) and the Excellent Postdoctoral Program of Jiangsu Province, China (Grant no. 2022ZB634) as the principal investigator. His research primarily delves into the pathogenesis and treatment of IBD and CRC, particularly emphasizing the role of mesenchymal stem cells and their derived exosomes. He carries out research across the fields of Clinical Immunology, Clinical Microbiology, and Therapeutic of inflammatory and microbial diseases. Dr. Ocansey serves as an Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor for a number of reputable journals
At UCC, Dr. Ocansey imparts knowledge to both undergraduate and postgraduate students across various courses, including Immunology, Medical Microbiology, Control and Management of Microbial Diseases, Microbiome, Medical Mycology, and Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, he serves as his department's Clinical and Research Coordinator, providing mentorship to students and guiding them in their academic and research pursuits. He is a menber of American Society of Microbiology (ASM), Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS), and University Teacher Association of Ghana (UTAG).

He actively engages in initiatives aimed at improving public health awareness, particularly concerning gastrointestinal diseases and healthy diets.
