Daniel Ofori, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer in Procurement and Supply Chain Management in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, at the University of Cape Coast. He obtained his PhD in Business Administration with specialisation in sustainable waste management among households from the University of Cape Coast. He also has MSc in Finance from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He holds Professional Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Diploma in Procurement and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS, UK). He is also a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). He holds a certificate in Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Africa from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
Dr. Daniel Ofori is very active in teaching and research, with a specialisation in sustainability in supply chains, circular economy, green consumerism and marketing, electronic business, sustainable consumption, and production. He has authored six (6) book chapters and over thirty (30) peer-reviewed journal articles focusing on green marketing, circular economy, electronic procurement, social media and public sector communication, and sustainable plastic and electronic waste management in Ghana. His work reflects a deep commitment to addressing pressing environmental and social challenges within the sub-region. His research has attracted wide academic and professional attention, earning him the Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies – Emerald Literati Award Winners 2020 and recognition as Best Early-Career Researcher by the Journal, Cleaner Logistics and Supply Chain.
In addition to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Dr. Ofori actively contributes to academic administration. He is involved in curriculum development, including the design of new programmes and the revision of existing ones—particularly the BCom in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. He also leads a joint research initiative between the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management and the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA), aimed at assessing student satisfaction with university services. Dr. Ofori serves as the academic advisor for Level 100 students in the BCom Procurement and Supply Chain Management programme and currently holds the position of Registration and Examinations Officer (DREO) for the Department.
On the international stage, He has contributed to waste management projects within the EU-funded Switch African Green programme, accumulating substantial expertise through his engagement with the informal sector within the electronic and plastic waste value chains. Daniel has been part of a team for the establishment of a One-stop shop Eco-business and Policy Centre for eco-innovative MSMEs (https://ecobpc.com/), and Electronic Waste Management in Ghana (E-MAGIN) (https://web.facebook.com/EMaginGhana), under the Switch Africa Green (SAG) phase I and II projects respectively. His involvement extends to being an active stakeholder and regular participant in the Switch Africa Green Regional Networking Forum, enabling him to forge valuable connections with sector experts across Africa and beyond. Daniel is currently the project coordinator for a 2-year UNIDO-funded project for the Ghana Circular Economy Centre (GCEC) as Plastic Value Chain Lead.
