Dr. Daniel Edem Adzovie is a practicing creative designer with diverse training and expertise in communications. He is a budding communication scholar, multimedia designer, and creative strategist whose interdisciplinary work bridges the domains of communication, design, advertising, and digital media. His scholarship is deeply rooted in understanding how visual, digital, and multimodal communication forms shape meaning, influence behaviour, and drive social transformation across diverse sociocultural contexts.
Edem holds Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Fine Arts (Multimedia and Design) from Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic, M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Cape Coast, and B.A. in Communication Studies (Strategic Communication) from the African University College of Communications (AUCC). He also earned an International Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from Cambridge International College (UK), an H.N.D. in Commercial Art (Graphic Design) from Takoradi Polytechnic, and a Certificate in Public Health from Imperial College London.
With a solid background in multimedia communication, advertising and public relations, marketing communication, and graphic design, Edem brings a unique blend of creative and analytical perspectives to his research and teaching. His work has contributed significantly to advancing conversations around migration communication, multimodality, visual literacy, and science communication in Africa and beyond. Dr. Adzovie has an impressive record of scholarly research and publication in leading international journals. His work explores how multimodal and visual communication influences perception, participation, and identity in media, health, and migration contexts. His publications reflect his commitment to exploring how multimodal and visual communication strategies influence public understanding, social change, and development communication in both digital and traditional media contexts. He has presented his research findings at numerous international academic conferences, often serving as a moderator, discussant, or session chair. He worked in several creative studios/boutiques, advertising agencies, and marketing communications organizations, where he developed expertise in brand communication, advertising strategy, visual storytelling, and client engagement. His experience in both creative practice and corporate communication informs his academic work, providing students and collaborators with a rich blend of theory and real-world insight.
Dr. Adzovie’s teaching philosophy integrates theory, creativity, and practical application. He has taught and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research in Multimedia and Visual Communication, Advertising and Brand Strategy, Public Relations and Marketing Communication, Research Methods in Communication Studies, Digital and Migration Communication, Media Design and Aesthetics.
