PROFILE OF DR. (MRS.) CHRISTIANA ASIEDU

Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Asiedu is the Head of Adult Health Department and Senior Lecturer of School of Nursing and Midwifery at The University of Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. As the head, she in charge of administration and management of the faculty, administrative staff and students of the department. She has attended and facilitated in a number of seminars, workshops and conferences nationally and internationally. She is a native of Abiriw Akwapem in Ghana's eastern region. She is a hardworking, devoted, enthusiastic, and dedicated Christian.

 Education 

Dr Asiedu received her training as a Community Health Nurse (CHN) and a State Registered Nurse (SRN) at the College of Community Health Nursing-Winneba and Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Cape Coast respectively. She graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a diploma and a degree in Health Sciences Education with first-class honors (General Nursing option). Additionally, she has a PhD in Maternal and Child Health Promotion and MPhil in Population and Health from the University of Cape Coast and Master of Public Health (options in population, family, reproductive, and adolescent health) from the University of Ghana. She also holds Certificate in Health Administration and Management from Ghana Institute of Management, Planning and Administration in Accra. 

 

Working Experience 

Dr. Asiedu started her profession career as a cleaner at the Twifo Oil Palm Plantaion Clinic at Twifo Eduabeng in the Central Region of Ghana. She worked at the Maternal and Child Health Unit at Asamankese and Winneba, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Winneba Government Hospital all in Ghana. She Dr Asiedu served as a preceptor for the Community Health Nursing Training School at Winneba. 

She has taught for many years in Community Health Nursing Training Colleges in Winneba, Esiama, and Fomena. She has also taught at the Department of Nursing at the Pentecost University and the Health Science Education Unit at the University of Cape Coast. Dr Asiedu is currently Senior Lecturer at the Department of Adult Health, School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Cape Coast. 

Dr Asiedu has extensive tutorial, practical and examination experience in Nursing and Midwifery and has specializing in Public Health, General Nursing, Reproductive, and Adolescent Health. She has served the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana for a number of years.

Dr. Asiedu is a consultant and curriculum developer for programs in nursing and midwifery. She has played a variety of roles in the Church of Pentecost in a variety of roles. Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Asiedu is a motivational speaker, as well as a speaker for religious, women's, young people, and corporate programs both domestically and abroad.

 Achievements 

Dr Mrs Christiana Asiedu is the author of several works, including Principles and Practice of Community/Public Health Nursing; Family Planning: The Legacy of a Healthy Living; Surgery and Surgical Nursing in a Technologically Advanced World; Understanding Anatomy and Physiology in Health Care; The Ghanaian Child's Health; Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases in Africa and Ghanaian Communities; Personal and Environmental Health; Nursing Practice and Public Health Administration; Community and Public Health Concepts; include the Virtuous Woman of Noble Character and others. Dr. Asiedu has extensive business experience. She is also the founder of the Adolescent Health Club in Ansaful, Asebu, and Pomadze in Winneba in the central region of Ghana. She has mentored and continues to mentor the majority of people in the health sector. She is incredibly supportive and willing to help everybody who comes her way. Dr. Asiedu has received several accolades. During her SRN education, she was the best surgical nursing graduating student in Ghana; she received the Health Entrepreneurship and Achievers Award in 2022; the Church of Pentecost Chairman's honor on May 4th, 2022; and the National Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Category Award from the Ministry of Health Ghana in May, 2021. 

 Boards and Committees

Dr Christiana Asiedu has been and continues to serve on a number of boards and committees in the institutions where she has worked, including the University and the Church of Pentecost.

Interest 

Professional development, a willingness to go above and beyond to help those in need, mentorship of young people, and ensuring the progress of those around her.

Family Life

Dr Mrs Christiana Asiedu is married to Mr Victor Asiedu and have four children: Ing. Christiana Mintaah Asiedu (civil engineer - London),  Mr Eric Okai Asiedu (Economist and CEO of the Ownership and Flodika group of firms - Ghana, Mr Enoch Okai Asiedu (Prisons officer - Ghana and Ms Emmanuella Florence Odi Asiedu (BSc nurse - Ghana).

 

My philosophy of teaching is that all students must be active participants in the teaching and learning process.


Good teacher-student relation facilitate effective learning. Every student is unique due to that i will provide environment where students are able to share their ideas .
