Prof. Alex Azuka Ilchie

Prof. Alex Azuka ilchie is an Associate Professor at the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Cape Coast Ghana. 

He holds a PhD in Health Promotion from the University of Cape Coast, a Master of Philosophy in Health Education from University of Cape Coast, UCC, a Doctor of Optometry Degree with BSc in Optometry from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. 

Prof. ilchie has taught Ocular pathology, clinical optometry and has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate (M.Phil and PhD) students with diverse backgrounds. He has mentored many Optometrist and Doctors of Optometry. He is also an external examiner to other universities in Ghana and a consultants in USA. Prof. ilchie has served on a number of boards at the local (University), regional and national levels. He served on the Academic Board of the University of Cape Coast, School Board, School of Allied Health Sciences, School of Agriculture  and School of Physical Sciences, Department Board, Department Optometry and Vision Science. He is currently the Patron for the Nigerian Student Association (NSA) UCC and a President for Nigerian Community Central Region, Ghana.

He is a member of many international and local professional associations. He practices and consults at the Department of Optometry Eye Clinic and the University of Cape Coast Eye clinic as a professional optometrist.
