Mr. Abraham Obeng is a Procurement Officer with the University of Cape Coast. He joined the University in 2011 as a Procurement Assistant, rising to the rank of Senior Procurement Assistant in 2016 before being promoted to his current position in 2022. Having worked as the officer in charge of procurement for the College of Distance Education and College of Humanities and Legal Studies, he is currently the College Procurement Officer (CPO) at the College of Distance Education.
Mr. Obeng holds a Higher National Diploma Certificate (HND) in Purchasing and Supply from Takoradi Polytechnic now Takoradi Technical University, a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management from Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) now Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) and a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from the University of Cape Coast. His area of specialization/Interests include but are not limited to Supplier Development and involvement, E-Procurement, Contract Management and Administration, Sustainable Procurement, Procurement Law and Policy, Procurement Management, Procurement Ethics, Logistics, Stores and Inventory Management, and Procurement consultation.
He is pragmatic, dynamic, reliable, honest, friendly, and client-oriented. Mr. Obeng is versatile and willing to learn new skills and apply them to the ever-changing job environment. He is also self-motivated, focused and determined, result-oriented, resourceful, and a good team builder. He is equipped with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and be a good communicator.
Mr. Abraham Obeng has served and continues to serve (either as Secretary, or Member) on various statutory boards, committees, and welfare associations of the University.
He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, CIPS, UK, Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply(GIPS), and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) Ghana. Abraham has attended several conferences, seminars, and training workshops, both in and out of the country.
