Prof. (Mrs.) Nancy Innocentia Ebu Enyan

Prof.  (Mrs.) Nancy Innocentia Ebu Enyan is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana, and the Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in both clinical practice and academia. She had her professional training at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Cape Coast, Ghana.  She holds BSc. (Nursing) from the UCC, Ghana, MSc. (Public Health) from Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Master of Nursing and PhD (Health Promotion) from the UCC. She also holds a postgraduate certificate in disease control from the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam. 

She has expertise in health promotion, nursing education, nursing practice, and community engagement. She values the critical role of mentorship in shaping the next generation of nurses and midwives, and as a result, she has mentored and continues to mentor many students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  She has collaborated and continues to team up with researchers in Ghana and beyond. She is a reviewer for several international journals with a focus on nursing, women’s health, and public health. 

Prof. Enyan has served in various leadership and administrative positions. She has had the opportunity to be the Coordinator for the Department of Mental Health, Faculty Registration and Examinations Officer, Department Registration Officer, and Sandwich Coordinator for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She has been instrumental in establishing and sustaining local and international partnerships for the school.  

She serves as an External/International Examiner for some universities within Ghana and beyond. She has had the opportunity of being an Exchange Visitor at the Kirkhof College of Nursing, Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. She has participated in many training programmes, including a Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) training programme on International Dean’s Course for Africa in Germany and Ethiopia, respectively which was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 

Prof. Enyan has received several honours and awards, including the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, United Kingdom, an Academic Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance, Northumbria University, England, Outstanding Research Award for the College of Education Studies, UCC, Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Award (Leadership and Governance category) by the Ministry of Health, Ghana, and Best College-Level Researcher Award for the College of Health and Allied Sciences by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy, UCC.

Prof. Enyan is a member of the governing board/council of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives. She has also served the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana in the following capacities; a member of the consortium for the digitalisation of the patient/family care study project, consultant for curricula review, and currently serves as a member of the steering committee on revalidation of nurses and midwives in Ghana. Membership of organisations include the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Sigma Theta Tau International (Honour Society of Nursing), and the International Papillomavirus Society. She is a Commonwealth Scholar and DAAD alumna.
